Referrals
Last updated October 12, 2026
Referrals shows who in your network most likely knows each candidate for a role. You add your network and a shortlist. alkemy checks every candidate against your network and ranks the people you can ask.
Referrals has three tabs:
- Jobs: one page for each open role, with its candidates and their routes.
- Contact work: the introductions you asked for, and where each one is now.
- Network: the people you can ask.
Set it up
- Add your network. Upload a CSV of the people you can ask, with their LinkedIn links.
- Open a job. Give the role, the company and the founder.
- Add the shortlist. Upload a CSV of candidates with their LinkedIn links. A sourcing tool export works.
alkemy fills in each profile from public data. A large list takes a few minutes. You can use the page while it works.
Tip: You can also do each step in chat. Attach the CSV and tell Luna what it is, for example "add these candidates to the Head of AI job".
Read the routes
A route is a person in your network who can likely introduce you to a candidate. Open a job and select Compare routes on a candidate to see them. Each route shows:
- Member to ask: the person you contact.
- Shared place: the company, school or program they share with the candidate.
- Overlap: the years they were there at the same time.
- Strength: how likely the two know each other.
Shared work or school suggests a connection. It does not confirm one. Routes below the recommendation level are weak routes. They stay hidden until you select Show weak routes.
Ask for an introduction
- To use the best route, select Ask on the candidate's row. The ask goes to Contact work.
- To use a different route, open Compare routes and select Use route on that row.
- A core member of your network is a candidate you know. You contact them directly.
In Contact work, record each step as it happens: Mark sent, Record reply, then the outcome. These answers teach alkemy which routes work for your network.
Add one person
- To your network: open Network and select Add a person.
- To a job: in chat, give Luna the LinkedIn link and the job name, for example "add linkedin.com/in/… to the Head of AI job".
- When you know who knows a candidate: open the candidate's routes and select Suggest a person. This saves the link between them. It does not send anything.
Keyboard shortcuts
Press ? anywhere in Referrals to see all shortcuts. For example, J and K move between candidates, and A uses the top route.
